In this ThriveCart review we are going to breakdown the software, tell you exactly for who this software works the best, and have an honest look at the value for money. As Mark'd Agency we know how important the cart software is to your business. This is the place where the money is made, but unfortunately also often lost…
That's why we see it as our responsibility to educate entrepreneurs on the different tools that are available and help them make a calculated decision. To be completely transparent, we are an affiliate of ThriveCart. However, we are not some marketing guru that wants to sell you something. We run a real digital marketing agency. That means we choose to be an affiliate if the product provides value for our clients.
In this ThriveCart review you will learn:
- What ThriveCart is
- For who ThriveCart works
- The good, the bad, and the ugly
- If the pricing is fair
- And give our ThriveCart review a final verdict with a star rating
At the end of our review, you will know if ThriveCart is right for you.
What Is ThriveCart?
ThriveCart is a shopping cart software platform where you can create your cart and checkout process. It's seriously threatening the position of the big boys like Samcart or SendOwl. This is mainly caused by the one-time fee that ThriveCart offers at this moment. With a one-time purchase of ThriveCart for $485, you will have lifetime access to the product.
Although the company has been around since 2016, it’s still in the pilot phase. All the functions are working perfectly and it’s already conquering large portions of the industry. Furthermore, ThriveCart has developed many features that are either beating or competing with the competition. We expect the life-time offer to be around as long as the pilot phase is still active. Afterward, they will probably go to a monthly payment system that is common within the software and technology industry.
In the upcoming chapters, we are going to dive into the features, improvements, and pricing of ThriveCart. We want to establish the level (or perhaps lack) of value for money. The goal is to determine whether or not ThriveCart is beneficial for YOU!
The People Behind The Product
ThriveCart is a product build by Webactix that has an entire portfolio of software products under its banner. The team is led by founder Josh Bartlett, a true veteran within the e-commerce industry. With approximately <10 members, ThriveCart has a small team but is good for helping 135,000 vendors.

Is ThriveCart Right For You?
Before we dive into the technical side of things, let's take have a chat about you. Does ThriveCart make sense for your business?
ThriveCart lives and breathes the digital product selling identity. Whether you are looking at the designing of the actual shopping carts or the affiliate management system, ThriveCart is made for digital products.
Why do we think you can excel at selling digital products with ThriveCart?
Just look at a couple of ThriveCart’s selling features:
- 1-click-bump offer
- 1-click upsells
- A/B testing
- Affiliate center
- Membership integration
So, if you are a digital marketer, blogger, influencer, coach, or anything else that is related to selling digital products, bear with us because ThriveCart might just be the answer you’ve been looking for.
So what about physical product sellers… Read below to find out.
ThriveCart vs WooCommerce
ThriveCart does give you the option to sell physical products, however, the customization options are very limited and only work for small shops with limited products. If you want to add tributes like sizes and colors, then you have a problem.
Now for an e-commerce store that sells retail products, that’s a problem. In our honest opinion, we don’t think that ThriveCart is a good fit for anyone that sells physical products. There are just better alternatives available. At the end of the day, there are many good software solutions and it comes down to whether or not it suits your business.
For selling your physical products you are better off with WooCommerce or Shopify. These platforms are focused on physical products and also give you many specialized features.
Buying Software Is An Investment
Last week I discussed with a fellow marketer. It was about the purchase of new software. "Mark, that's a lot of money, do we really need that?"
I think this is an interesting question to go through. At first, I was agreeing and struggling myself with the purchase. Hmm, do I really need that? While I was thinking about the subject I was also doing groceries. All of a sudden it hit me. We buy a lot of stuff for our personal needs that aren't a necessity. However, when we have the opportunity to invest (not buy, invest) in our business, then it's too expensive or unnecessary.
I knew that the software was going to help me get results faster. In the end, if you postpone progress it will cost you money. It was penny-wise and pound-foolish of me! I immediately contacted my fellow marketer and bought the software. It turned out to be a true eye-opener and instantly changed our profitability.
If the software helps you achieve success faster, go for it! It’s an investment and not just an expense.
How To Use ThriveCart – Settings Things Up!
How to use ThriveCart? Don't worry, it's a very user-friendly experience and they have an extended ThriveCart helpdesk with articles to help you on your way.
After you have purchased your product, head over to the login page. When you’ve signed in you can start building your carts. It works with a drag and drop editor that even your dog can use. The interface is clean and everything is quite self-explanatory.

When you choose your template, there are 2 options you should think about:
- Shopping cart hosted on ThriveCart website
- Embed your shopping cart into the website
Both work very well and fast. We choose to embed our cart on our website itself because we want our branding to influence the buyer.
After you successfully choose the destination of your cart, it’s time to design!
Choose how you want the product to look like:
- A mockup
- Own picture
Afterward, add the unique buying reasons for your product. Choose the amount of contact information that you’ll need. Gentle warning, don’t ask for too much personal information. People are more likely to abort the purchase.
You can also add a 1-click upsell or bump offer. I would recommend doing this because it will boost your revenue massively!
Finally, choose the payment processors you want to work with. PayPal, Stripe, and Authorize.net are a good start.
ThriveCart Features – The Differentiation From The Big Boys
We've already explained a little bit about ThriveCart. It's good for businesses that sell digital products and you know about the lifetime offer. It's time to dive deeper into the technical side of ThriveCart. With this information, you will know how ThriveCart stands in comparison to the industry leaders like Samcart.
This Makes ThriveCart Unique
It's not often that I review a product that is still in pilot yet has so many features that work perfectly. Usually, products in the pilot phase are limited and don't have a lot of features. That's not the case with ThriveCart. They have a ton of useful and profitable features that enrichen their product.
Features that make ThriveCart a force to be reckoned with:
Pros
Like I said before, it's mind-blowing to witness the number of features that ThriveCart offers for a product that is doing a pilot run. It's a very complete package of features that strengthen each other and will help you sell more online.
Below we are going to work out the most important features.
ThriveCart ActiveCampaign Integration For Autoresponders
ActiveCampaign is the market leader in the e-mail marketing and automation industry. Many businesses make use of ActiveCampaign to interact with their customer. That's why it was a very wise move of ThriveCart to partner up and integrate the systems into one money-making machine.
With the integration, you can send automated messages to your customers after they made a purchase. This can be the actual product (eBook) or a confirmation, thank you, upsell proposal or anything you can think of. It will make your business and online shopping cart experience look highly professional and smoothen out the process. You will prevent unnecessary emails towards your support and reduce thereby the costs for support.
For more information about ActiveCampaign, please check out our best branding tools page.
GDPR Compliant
If you sell in Europe you need to be GDPR compliant. What is GDPR you ask? It stands for General Data Protection Regulation which is an EU law on data protection and privacy. This particularly adds work for online entrepreneurs because this law is all about the transfer of personal data. Luckily, ThriveCart comes with a GDPR compliance feature that covers the entire issue and protects you from trouble with the law.
Important note: the GDPR compliance only applies to the ThriveCart shopping cart! All other forms of data collection on your website need to be covered in your privacy and GDPR page.
Sales Tax Calculations
ThriveCart has an automated sales tax calculation system. This will automate the tax part of your sales price and prevent the loss of money. Believe me, it looks like a minor function but having to do this all yourself is a major pain in the butt.
Affiliate Center
Affiliate marketing is one of the most powerful tools for businesses that sell digital products. Digital products tend to have large margins (up to 100%) this makes it possible to pay affiliates between 10-45% in commissions. Additionally, digital products often are high-ticket items making it even more financially attractive for affiliate marketers to work with you.
The affiliate Center function of ThriveCart is simply brilliant. It gives you all the features you desire plus more! You can adjust commissions based on sales, products, or even specific affiliate marketers. You can also build in when they are being paid.
Tip: pay the affiliates after your product refund policy is due. Just simply add a payout term beyond the refund terms into your affiliate commitment plan or contract.
Subscription And Payment Methods
I love this feature. ThriveCart offers you all kinds of payment methods you can use. You can make use of one-time fees, subscription models, payment plans, and many more. This gives you the space to work with your business model and find out what works best for you. For example, the pay what you want option could be used to make a brilliant marketing campaign. In comparison to the competition, this feature is a real game-changer. Most of the shopping cart solutions offer limited payment options. ThriveCart allows you to differentiate yourself with the payment method you choose.
This Could Have Been Better…
There are a couple of things that need to be improved. Some are minor but there is one issue which we don't like.
Cons
Limited templates: the templates offered by ThriveCart are clean and don't distract your customer. They are doing their job very well. However, if you would like to stand out a bit more, then you will notice the lack of template options. There are just a handful to choose from and aren't that different from each other in the first place.
Poor customization options: now this one gives a few mixed feelings. Your shopping cart should be clean and focused solely on selling your product. From that perspective, it is a good thing that you only have a few customization options. From a branding point of view, it can also feel limited because it's hard to give your cart your brand's feels and looks.
Not suited for physical products: on this one, we can be very clear. If you sell physical products, don't go for ThriveCart but instead take a look at Shopify or WooCommerce. They are far better suited to help you grow your business. ThriveCart is better for digital products.
No direct support via chat or phone (massive letdown): and so we find ourselves at the point of my disappointment. Let’s say you have organized a massive marketing campaign for your product launch. Everything is ready and thousands are waiting to buy your product!
But then… You stumble upon trouble with your shopping cart. People can’t buy the product.
ThriveCart doesn’t offer direct support via chat or phone. Their support goes through a ticket system (the response time is good but it’s possible to have to wait for a few hours) and a Facebook group. In the Facebook group (6k members) you will find developers and users. However, it’s just not enough if you are launching big product releases and need immediate assistance.
Is ThriveCart Pro Worth The Upgrade?
If you want to go for ThriveCart, you get the option between two versions: standard and pro. The question is whether or not the pro upgrade is worth it for you. Before I am going to answer this, let's take a look at the extra features you get with a pro.
You will probably recognize a couple of features from ‘This Makes ThriveCart Unique’.
With the ThriveCart Pro upgrade you get the following extra features:
- Subscription Saver Functionality
- Automatic Sales Tax Calculation
- Intelligent Business Projections
- JV Contracts
- Advanced User Management
- Client Usage Rights
- Custom Domain Name Functionality
- Powerful Affiliate Center
The affiliate center feature is a real game-changer in our experience. Affiliate marketing is very powerful for businesses selling digital products. It's the number one reason to consider the Pro upgrade.
Furthermore, the automatic sales tax calculation is extremely useful. You don’t have to worry about wrong tax tariffs etc.
Finally, the intelligent business projections feature will show you exactly where you are heading with your sales. If you are starting to see a decline, you can act on it by adding one-click upsells, discounts, or start promoting more actively.
At the end of the day, every entrepreneur needs to look at their unique needs to identify what is right for you. That being said, I do believe that the pro upgrade is a smart move. It’s just $195 extra for a ton of value. The affiliate program alone is worth 5x the purchase.
ThriveCart Integrations
Although ThriveCart is relatively young, they have done a remarkable job at partnering up with big players and making their cart solution integrable. Their achievement is even so impressive that I can’t sum up all the integrations without boring you. It works with most industry leaders like Hubspot, Slack, Mailchimp, etc.
Below we are going to talk about the payment processors that are integrated into ThriveCart. After all, getting paid is the most essential part of our shopping cart.
The integration options are scoring big points in this ThriveCart review.
Important Payment Processors!
ThriveCart has done a phenomenal job to add the most important and used payment processors as partners.

Stripe
Stripe is upcoming within the fintech industry. It already is a huge player but it's going after the likes of PayPal. Stripe offers its services for the same fees as PayPal which is fair. Furthermore, Stripe is widely supported as a payment processor. Making this a worthy addition to your shopping cart.
PayPal
PayPal doesn't need an introduction. It has a total payment volume of $712+ billion per year. It is also the favorite payment processor for international transactions. PayPal is a must-have for anyone selling online. Always include PayPal as a payment processor.
Apple Pay
Apple Pay knew a very slow start. People didn't believe in paying with their phones because you already have your bank or used to work with credit cards. Surprisingly, opinions shifted and Apple Pay became highly popular. It works fast and people love the fact that it’s on IOS which is known to be safer. Apple Pay is a growing payment method and therefore strong for future perspective.
Even More Integrations For ThriveCart With Zapier
Probably the most important acquired integration partner is Zapier. Zapier enables ThriveCart to integrate its shopping cart solution with hundreds of software providers. Zapier is an automation tool that connects apps and automates cooperative tasks.
It helps you to streamline workflows and automate them, reducing your costs and making your business lean. It works for automating social media content across different platforms e.g. Facebook, Instagram, and Discord. Furthermore, you can automate back-office software like CRM with your marketing tools.
Zapier is arguably the most valuable integration partner for ThriveCart.
To clarify, you can use Zapier to connect your e-mail marketing solution with ThriveCart to send PDFs, videos, or thank you messages.
ThriveCart Pricing - How Much Does It Cost?
ThriveCart pricing is a key differentiator for our ThriveCart review and differentiates ThriveCart from the likes as Samcart. All of the ThriveCart competition is using the subscription model. You will have to keep paying the solution provider as long as you make use of the product. With ThriveCart you only invest your money once.

How Much Is ThriveCart (Standard)?
The ThriveCart features are functioning perfectly, yet the product is still in a pilot phase. During this time the standard product is being sold for $1995 $495. This is a life-time fee, meaning that you will have to pay once for the product. If new features are being added, you will get access to all future addons and new integrations.
ThriveCart has a different ‘refund’ policy. The ThriveCart team will work personally with you to boost your performance if you think the product falls short in delivering. This policy is in place instead of the more common returning money policy.
How Much Does ThriveCart Pro Cost?
At this moment, the ThriveCart Pro upgrade is being offered for a discounted price of $1000 $195. With this price comes extra features like automatic sales taxes, a profit prediction system, and most importantly the affiliate center.
If you are serious about growing your product sales through affiliates, then ThriveCart pro might be wise money. With the current discount, it's barely an expense for a business and has the potential to earn a lot of money for you.
We expect the prices to go up, and even transform to a monthly subscription model after the pilot phase ends.
What ThriveCart Alternatives Could I Consider?
Before you decide about ThriveCart, it's important to look at the competition. What do they offer that ThriveCart doesn’t or vice versa. It will also give you a better idea of the unique features that are being offered to you.
ThriveCart vs ClickFunnels
To be fair, this is a poor comparison. Why? Because we are comparing a shopping cart solution with an entire online marketing tool basket. With ClickFunnels you can build landing pages, sales pages, marketing funnels, and much more. Comparing the pricing would make no sense as the products are meant to serve other purposes.
That’s why we are going to focus on the payment processing part of the two.
Both have a great partnership network with payment processors. ClickFunnels has slightly more options. However, it’s rather equal in potential because ThriveCart covers all the major payment methods except for crypto.
When we look at the design of the shopping carts then my vote would go to ThriveCart. The design is clean and effective. Additionally, it looks professional and modern in contrast to ClickFunnels. ClickFunnels is a legit company, however, its design looks a bit cheap. It's just not as neat and professional as its competition. Clickfunnels is great for people that are looking for an all-in-one solution. Entrepreneurs that want the most out of their software are better off with selecting multiple individual solutions that work together. More about that in the 'Online Selling Toolbox'.
We also made a ClickFunnels review, check it out if you want to know more about them.

SendOwl vs ThriveCart
SendOwl is probably the competitor that is the most similar to the solutions of ThriveCart. It has a clean and easy-to-use interface. The integration possibilities with the payment gateways are simply brilliant. There are even (although limited) cryptocurrencies that you could add as payment.
You can serve many people from different origins as 29 different currencies are allowed as payment methods and you can choose flexible payment options. Furthermore, you can boost those sales with bump offers and 1-click upsells. Lastly, the customer checkout builder is a dream. It works smoothly and you don't need any technical skills.
On the downside, SendOwl is meant as a basic tool. It will create a perfect shopping cart for you, but that's as far as the software goes. It doesn't have A/B testing. Nor does it have emergency support (just like ThriveCart) or a Facebook Group (ThriveCart does have one).
But which one is the right choice for you? If you don’t want to invest a lot of money and are looking for a basic yet effective tool, go for SendOwl. Are you willing to invest a little bit more upfront, then ThriveCart is the better choice. Why? Because the technical features are superior. It will make you more money.
SendOwl Pricing
SendOwl is offering a serious alternative to ThriveCart on both a technical as well as a financial side. The payment plans start with a fair $9 per month. Additionally, the most complete package 'Business' costs $39 per month. That's as expensive as the basic plan of Samcart. You could even argue that ThriveCart is a bigger initial investment.
To put it into perspective, if you make use of SendOwl basics you can use it for 55 months before ThriveCart hits breakeven. That's quite a long horizon! After 55 months, SendOwl starts to become more expensive than ThriveCart because ThriveCart is a one-time fee.
To conclude, SendOwl is fair money for a high-value solution. It depends on your business needs which one is the better choice for you. ThriveCart is richer in features where SendOwl is stronger in support and resources.
Find out more about SendOwl pricing

ThriveCart vs Samcart
Samcart is the big bad wolf of the shopping cart industry. It has a clean and easy-to-use interface making it very easy to create shopping carts. More importantly, it also allows you to make bump offers and 1-click upsells.
Furthermore, it also has more advanced features like ThriveCart does with a smart affiliate management system, A/B testing, and a detailed reporting dashboard. However, all those features are slightly worse. The affiliate center works great but is highly expensive. And the A/B testing feature isn't easy to use. Which is the opposite of what you learned in the ThriveCart review.
On the upside, Samcart has excellent support. The documentation is better and more complete than ThriveCart's. Additionally, Samcart has live chat to help you deal with immediate issues like malfunctioning during your product launch.
ThriveCart offers more on the technical side of things. It's just more complete and the sales tax calculation plus affiliate center tools are a massive pro. It beats Samcart on value for money and is in our opinion superior to its larger rival.
Samcart Pricing
Samcart is a lot more expensive than ThriveCart. Samcart starts at $49 per month for the basic plan. It even costs you more in one year than ThriveCart does for its one-time fee. After you have purchased ThriveCart you can make use of it on a lifetime basis. That means you will pay only once! Samcart on the other hand will be a continuous investment. That being said, Samcart does offer crushingly good support. That's worth money too.

Bluehost – WordPress Trusted Web Hosting
You can’t sell products online if you don’t have a platform where you can do so. Now I know that you could potentially sell through platforms like Facebook or Instagram, but that shouldn’t be your primary platform. That would be a bad business decision. Why? Because you don’t own that platform. If Facebook changes regulations you could potentially lose your entire business.
Now there are multiple ways to get a website but as Mark'd Agency we believe in WordPress. WordPress is an open-source content management system that allows you to build your website. The great thing about this software is the fact that you can make use of thousands of plugins developed by a range of software developers. Some are free and some are paid. This gives you a lot of freedom to build your website the way you want it.
That brings us to choosing the right web hosting provider for your WordPress website. There are many providers to choose from, but our preference goes to Bluehost. Why? Because WordPress endorses Bluehost as the most trustworthy WordPress web hosting provider. They have been working together for over 15 years.
There are a couple of reasons why Bluehost is endorsed by WordPress itself:
- Bluehost has a WordPress installation tool that automatically installs WordPress (no tech skills needed)
- It's a high value for money as you can start for as little as $3.95 per month
- You get a free SSL with Bluehost which is a safeguard that keeps your website safe
The main benefit of Bluehost is the speed with which you can build your website. You can have your website online in a matter of minutes. If you want to save even more money then you should consider waiting for Black Friday (Friday 26th of November).
You can find the expected discounts of this year’s Bluehost Black Friday here.

ThriveCart Review – The Final Verdict
Is ThriveCart right for you? Ultimately that differs per business as every business has its own needs. That being said, ThriveCart deserves a lot of praise. The product is still in the pilot phase yet the features work perfectly, are more complete than its competition, and value for money.
Pros
Cons
ThriveCart Review Conclusion:
On the technical side, ThriveCart beats large industry leaders like Samcart or SendOwl. It offers more advanced features like tax calculation tools and a proper affiliate center. All these features are designed to boost your sales and to make you money. It's truly remarkable what ThriveCart has achieved in such a short period.
Yet there is work to be done for this rising star! Where they excel at feature richness and advanced systems, they lack customization and support. There are just a handful of templates to choose from and the customization options are limited. Furthermore, if you need emergency help then you have a problem. They don't have live chat or phone support.
To conclude: ThriveCart is a high value for a fair price. It beats its competition on feature richness and it does its job very well. It becomes even more attractive when you look at the pricing. At this moment you can purchase the product for a lifetime fee of $495. You pay it once and you can make use of all its features including new features in the future.
If this ThriveCart review helped you in any way, please leave a comment down below. We would love to hear from you. As we have spent countless hours to make the best possible review for you. It is our purpose to make your brand flourish and help you through high-value content.
ThriveCart FAQ
To help you make the right decision for you, we have made frequently asked questions (FAQ) about ThriveCart. Our goal is to educate you the best we can in our ThriveCart review.
ThriveCart is a product of Webactix Limited based in New-Zealand. The business is run by Josh Bartlett, a veteran in the e-commerce sector. It’s a relatively small business if you look at the number of employees <10. However, ThriveCart alone is good for transferring 1 billion dollars for their vendors/affiliates.
ThriveCart is a high-converting cart solution for selling products and/or services online. ThriveCart is hosting its software on its servers. This means that your payment process will not require extra resources from your website. This prevents slower loading times and thereby the loss of profit. ThriveCart is popular among online marketers because of its clean and conversion-focused design.
Most website builders will help you with making landing pages or sales pages, but won't include the possibility to create your shopping cart. This means you need to look for a shopping cart software that works together with your website builder. ThriveCart works together with many solutions also because of their partnership with Zapier. One more reason to consider ThriveCart is that they are currently offering a one-time price for lifetime usage of the software.
You can either set up a shopping cart on the website of ThriveCart or your own. After selecting the destination you can now start by building your checkout page. It works with a simple to use drag and drop system that can be used by anyone. Simply add or remove elements and design your cart exactly as you want it. Too much bother? Use the templates provided by ThriveCart
ThriveCart works with many marketing solutions and all the top-tier ones. They have a very solid partner base. Besides the extensive partnerships, ThriveCart also integrates with Zapier. This makes it possible to connect to even more software solutions. You can find the ThriveCart Integrations here.
You can integrate Stripe, PayPal, and Authorize.net (Visa). Furthermore, you can integrate Apple Pay and Google Pay. ThriveCart is adding more payment processors over time. If you have paid for the lifetime deal, you will get access to all the new payment processors that are added in the future. The same goes for all the other extra features and benefits!
The proper name for the software is ThriveCart.
Important note: ThriveCart is not the same company as Thrive Themes. They are different companies that are not related to each other.
For the ThriveCart Standard plan, you will pay $495 as long as the limited lifetime deal is active! If you are considering making use of the premium features of ThriveCart, then you can upgrade your Standard for an extra $195. Your total investment will cost you $690.
The discount will save you $2305 but it's a limited offer! So make sure to check if it's still active at the time of your purchase. If it is, definitely make use of this offer because the value for money is mind-blowing.
That entirely depends on what you need for your business. If you are just starting with selling online then you will probably not need ThriveCart Pro. However, if you are a seasoned online seller or have a large brick-and-mortar store, then it might offer features that are interesting to you.
To name a few:
- Powerful affiliate center
- Subscription saver functionality (dunning)
